Mat, Asia, and Eden at Qayt Bay Fortress in Alexandria (L) and Asia just about to get swarmed (R).
It was actually a really beautiful place to visit but we really did get cornered by crowds of people
to the point of really scaring the girls.  The girls and I got surrounded by about 80 people and we
couldn't get to the stairway to get down.  Finally another AUC professor showed up and helped rescue
us from the throng.  A security guard helped us out some a bit later, that is the only reason I was able to
get the picture (above left) without getting swamped.

The pictures are from the new Alexandria Library.  It is a beautiful structure and only opened in 2004

This is the girls sitting on an old Greek column outside the catacombs in Alexandria

Also outside the catacombs

This is an icon from the 16th century Coptic collection at the Alexandria National Museum.  Really incredible.

Two photos of the bust of Akenhaten at the Alexandria museum.  He was a very interesting pharoah, long story.

Some relics of the Greek era in Egypt when Alexandria was built and occupied by Alexander the Great.
I was trying to make the statue more modest, after all we are in Egypt, right?

A beautiful black granite carving from the Alexandria museum

A fairly random shot of an ostrich we saw at an oasis on the way back from Alexandria.
