Our trip on Halong Bay was absolutely amazing.  This is looking out from the top deck of the boat we spend the three days on.
We went with a company called "Columbus Travel" located in Hanoi and the boat was called "Pinta Cruiser."

The first day we visited "Amazing Cave."  It was pretty amazing, too.

Only one time we saw the sun.  For about 10 minutes on the morning of my birthday.

We took a sea kayak out into the karsts and even underneath one of them in a cave.  This is the one that we went all the way through.

We happened to take flashlights with us and were able to go all the way through to the other side--see the video below.

This is the cave from other side of the mountain.

We had a BBQ lunch cooked for us on this deserted beach out in the Bay.  We had a British couple from Hong Kong that were
on the boat with us and we had a grand time together.  The food was great and the atmosphere and water were terrific.

Wahoo!

It was my birthday and the boat company made a cake and everything.

We spent the good part of one of the days on Cat Ba Island.  There is a valley in the southern end of the island that is just
stunning.  There is a little village there where the people grow rice and have animals.

This is the lady that led us on our hike through the jungle to an ancient house and a cave.

We rode bicycles on the island.  A really beautiful and fun time on the island.

Cathy and Rachel with one of the people who worked on the boat.  She also sold pearl jewelry which Cathy and Rachel purchased.
This little girl was on a boat with her parents as they sold food and other things to other boats.

We also had the chance to go to one of the floating villages in the Bay.

About 1000 people live in this small village, all in houses built on rafts.  Most are fisherman.

We went to visit the school for the village and the children were just delightful and friendly.

These two boys were on garbage duty and they were having a great time looking at the pictures of them as I took them.
