We went to two floating markets: Phong Dien and Can Tho. We got up at 5:30
a.m., ate breakfast at our hotel The Me Khan Hotel, then crossed the street to
get on our own boat to explore the markets. They run from 6:00-8:00 a.m.
and Phong Dien was south of our hotel and Can Tho was north. We bought
bananas from this boy.
The poles on the boats were used to advertise whatever produce they were
selling. They would hang a pineapple or mango from the pole to show their
wares.
The boat above is transporting rice (left) and to the right is a pole with the
motor attached that allows for shallow waters like the many canals.
Our fun hotel had this wonderful guide who spoke English and showed us a tour of
local life on the canals.
Our hotel on the left and one of their fantastic hot pot meals on the right.
Our bike ride trip on the canals. This boat is taking his bananas to the
market for the next morning.
We crossed many bridges on our bike ride and this one wasn't the most rickety.
