Bolognese Sauce: this is a meat sauce that is excellent over spaghetti or in a lasagna. I often use this recipe to give people food who have just had a baby. It freezes well in ziploc bags and can be used in many dishes.
Sun-Dried Tomato and Fennel Sauce: another excellent recipe for a pasta sauce. Excellent and tasty vegetarian dish. A wonderful summer pasta sauce and one that can be frozen well and used later.
Alfredo Sauce: a simple, traditional white sauce. Can be jazzed up with some pesto or smoked ham.
Pesto: an excellent blend of traditionally Italian herbs and spices. Excellent in any kinds of sauces, on bread, etc. You can freeze it in small amounts and use it whenever you like, within reason. I have a friend who first freezes pesto in ice cube trays and then puts them all in a bag. Seems like a good idea. Refrigerate or freeze any unused portion of pesto.
Bouillabaisse: this is an excellent recipe from my grandfather, Gunnar Cederwall. He was a master chef and this is one of his best. Published in Western Family magazine in the 50's.
Carrot Soup with Fresh Ginger: this is one of the more recent additions to my arsenal. It is a surprisingly tasty, nourishing soup. Normally vegetable soups can be a bit bland. This is an excellent exception.
Caribbean Stew: a surprising mix of meat, spice, vegetables, and fruit. People will question the combination of ingredients, but when you taste it you will be a believer.
Smoky Pumpkin Soup: A great soup for October when the pumpkins can be bought fresh. If you can't get a pumpkin, you could substitute a banana squash or butternut squash.
Apple Streusel Coffee Cake: an easy, tasty coffee cake from scratch that is most excellent as the apples become ripe and in season in fall
Country Apple Tart: another quick but excellent recipe when fall comes and the apples are at their best
Chocolate Caramel Pecan Cheesecake: you'll want to make this when you have a party or guests. It is absolutely wonderful, beautiful cheesecake that is rich beyond comparison. Serve it in small pieces.
Lime Mousse Pie: this is a wonderful, light cheesecake/mousse hybrid. Wonderful as an accompaniment to a summer meal or dinner party.
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies: this is I think the most requested of any of my recipes. Your friends and family will come begging for this one. Talk about "How to Win Friends and Influence People"!!
Chicken Coconut Kurma: this is the most popular of my Indian food recipes. It takes a bit of effort, especially the first time you make it, but it is well worth it. Be sure to not skimp on the fresh ingredients, that is what makes the sauce great. This is a type of curry dish.
Garam Masala: this is a spice conglomerate used in many Indian food dishes. You may also find it at some specialty shops pre-ground and mixed. If you can't make it, call me and I'll send some to you.
Mole Poblano: this is my recipe for the mexican sauce called mole (pronounced moh'-lay). It is a spicy sauce that is excellent with chicken and with enchiladas. Not a lot of work because most of it is done in the blender.
Foccaccia with Black Pepper: if you love foccaccia, this is an excellent and simple variety. Excellent with any pasta dishes or a fresh soup.
Salad with Spinach, Mango, Avocado, and Carmelized Pine Nuts: this is the best salad I have ever eaten, if I may say so. Wonderful for a summer meal and complementary with a party or barbeque. It is pleasing to the eye and to the mouth. Served with a fresh raspberry vinaigrette (recipe included).
Chicken with Artichokes, Peppers, Mushrooms, and Capers: this is an excellent and fairly simple dish to make. Excellent flavor and nice as a stand-alone main course. Quite easy to make, just requires a little slicing and dicing prep-work.
